Fizz o’clock | 盛夏的汽水

“Fizz o’clock”, Yanshu’s new artist‘s book in 2025, co-produced with @xzspace_beijing and artist Wu Shangcong, comes from the paper work of the same name by artist Wu Shangcong.

—— “The crisp ‘pop’ of the chilled bubbles bursting in the mouth, creating a tingling and stinging sensation, is like the stirrings of adolescence in the height of summer.

“Fizz o’clock” begins with the love story depicted in the Pompeii frescoes, then transitions to the graceful figures of maidens by the river, in the forest, and among the flowers. The reproduction of Francesco Hayez’s “The Kiss” echoes her longing for love. Bernini’s sculpture “Apollo and Daphne”, on the other hand, represents the unrequited pursuit of love, yet also a precious gift in the throes of growing pains. In the paintings, everything seemed so beautiful in the eyes of those tseven, Wu Shangcong embarked on creating the surreal montage dreams in his paintings, which seem to grow and develop in the hues of water.”

《盛夏的汽水》以庞贝壁画爱情故事为起始，转场到河边、林间、花丛中的少女曼妙。佛兰西斯科·哈耶兹所绘的《亲吻》的再现，呼应了她对情爱的憧憬。而贝尼尼的雕塑《阿波罗与达芙妮》是爱而不得的追逐，也是阵痛式成长中珍贵的礼物。画里，那时的少年眼中一切如此美好，他们嬉戏的笑声朗朗，透夜空。而后，如梦，醒来恍然。吴尚聪受到夏加尔在九十七岁时接受的一个采访的启发，开启了他绘画中超越现实的蒙太奇梦境，画面在水色中润润滋生。”
